Abstract

Diacetyldilydrazone and 2,6-diacetylpyridine react in presence of divalent iron, cobalt and nickel salts to from chelates of 22 membered N6, hexadentatemacrocycle. Chelates are characterized as distorted octahedral of the type [M(C26H30N10)] X2 where M = Fe (II). Co (II) NI (II) and X = CI, Br, NO3 or NCS. The macrocycle coordinate through azomethine and pyridine nitrogen atoms which are bridged by diacetyl moieties. The chelates are characterized by electrical conductance, molecular weight, electronic and infrared spectral studies.
