Impact of Different Pruning Intensities, Bio-Enhancers and Biofertilizer Application on Yield and Economics of Mango

Abstract

An experiment was conducted over two consecutive years i.e., 2023–24 and 2024–25, at Horticulture Garden, Department of Fruit Science, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (U.P.), using ten treatment combinations involving pruning intensities, bio-enhancers and biofertilizer application in a randomized block design with three replications on sixteen-year-old mango plant. Results show a significant improvements across all yield and economic parameters using an integrated treatment, T9-Retention of 20 cm + 30% Fruit Thinning + Panchgavya (3%) + Azotobacter (100g/tree), which consistently gave an outperforming impact over others. In yield traits, treatment T9 also results in the production of the highest fruit yield of 5.15 tons/ha, when data of both years were pooled. Among the economic parameters, T9 shows the highest cost of production with the amount of Rs. 39250.00/ha, along with the highest gross return of Rs. 128750.00/ha, maximum net return of Rs. 89500.00/ha, and along with a higher benefit-cost ratio of 2.28, during both years of experimentation in the plains of northern India.
