Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on Growth, Yield and Quality of Ber (Zizyphus Mauritiana Lamk.) cv. Banarasi Karaka

Abstract

The experiment entitled effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on growth, yield and quality of Ber (Zizyphus mauritiana Lamk.) cv. Banarasi Karaka was conducted in Horticulture Garden, Department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, from April 2024 to March 2025. The treatment consisted of seven treatments viz. T0-control, T1-75% RDF + 2kg Vermicompost, T2-75% RDF+ 4kg Vermicompost + 100g Azotobacter, T3-75% RDF +2kg Vermicompost + 100g Azotobacter, T4-75% RDF + 2kg Vermicompost + 100g PSB, T5-75% RDF + 4kg Vermicompost + 100 PSB, T6-75% RDF + 4kg Vermicompost + 50g PSB. The present investigation revealed that the combined application of 75% RDF, 4 kg of vermicompost, and 100 g of PSB (T5) significantly enhanced all studied parameters, including plant growth, fruit yield, and quality attributes. The significantly maximum branch length (3.57 m), number of primary branches (17.37), number of secondary branches (26.57), minimum fruit drop per cent (64.23 %), maximum fruit retention (35.77%), fruit length (3.81cm), fruit width (3.67 cm), fruit volume (23.12 cc), pulp weight (20.28 g), stone weight (1.97g), yield per tree (17.50 kg), TSS (16.45 °Brix), minimum titratable acidity (0.24 %), total sugar (9.78 %), TSS: acid ratio (68.66%) and ascorbic acid (73.63mg /100g) in ber under plains of north India.
