Impact of Organic Manure on the Yield Parameters of Broccoli (Brassica Oleracea L. Var. Italica Plenck). CV. KTS-1

The present field experiment titled “Impact of Organic Manure on the Yield Parameters of Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L.var. italica cv. KTS-1)” was conducted during the Rabi seasons of 2021–22 and 2022–23 at the experimental farm of Chaudhary Chhotu Ram (P.G.) College, Muzaffarnagar (U.P.). The study aimed to evaluate the effects of various organic manures and their combinations on the yield of broccoli. Thirteen treatment combinations were tested, including T₁ Control (Absolute) T₂ (FYM @ 60 t/ha), T₃ (Vermi Compost @ 20 t/ha), T₄ (Poultry Manure @ 20 t/ha), T₅ (FYM 75% + Vermi Compost (25%), T₆ (FYM 75%+ Poultry Manure (25%), T₇ Vermi Compost 75% + Poultry Manure (25%), T₈ FYM 50% + Vermi Compost (50%), T ₉ FYM 50% + Poultry Manure (50%), T₁₀ Vermi Compost (50%) + Poultry Manure (50%), T₁₁ FYM (25%) + Vermi Compost (75%), T₁₂ FYM (25%) + Poultry Manure (75%) and T₁₃ Vermi Compost (25%) + Poultry Manure (75%).

The results demonstrated that the combined application of Vermicompost (25%) + Poultry Manure (75%) (T ₁₃) consistently outperformed all other treatments. T₁₃ recorded the earliest curd initiation (49.61 days), shortest time to curd maturation (64.45 days), maximum curd weight (351.59 g), maximum curd diameter (13.64 cm), greatest vertical length (19.18 cm), and maximum yield (141.79 q/ha) as compared to the control (T₁), which yielded only 131.09 q/ha.These findings clearly indicate that the integration of vermicompost and poultry manure significantly improves broccoli growth, curd development, and yield attributes. The superior performance may be attributed to enhanced nutrient availability, improved soil structure, and microbial activity. This integrated organic approach not only boosts productivity but also promotes sustainable and eco-friendly cultivation practices.
