Abstract

Effect of pulsing with plant growth regulators viz., Thidiazuron, GA3 and STS at various concentrations along with 8% sugar and distilled water as control were studied for increasing vase life and quality parameters of cut flowers of Alstroemeria cv. Serena. Various chemicals conspicuously influenced pH, conductivity, osmolarity of expressed sap of flower and chlorophyll content of cut spike. Maximum vase life and minimum changes In fresh weight (% of initial weight) were observed in flowers pulsed with TDZ (0.6mM) and STS (0.6mM) solution. However, GA3 at all concentrations, was unable to change the fresh weight during vase life.
