Role of remote sensing and gis technique for estimation of medicinal and aromatic plants area

Medicinal plants play an essential role in both traditional and modern health care systems. Remote sensing and GIS are extremely useful for research and development in production, protection development and management of medicinal and bulbous crops at local, regional and global levels. Remote sensing and GIS technologies help to medicinal and aromatic crop improvement of the varieties diversification. This technology will also help in to increase the area through crop diversification, Remote sensing and GIS software viz. ERDAS IMAGINE, ARC GIS, Geomatica, Geomedia, ENVI, ILWIS and ER Mapper softwares are use to study of the crops and crop modeling. Precise applicattons of GPS play a great role for identification of the location characteristics of the area. Hence, application of remote sensing and GIS are very wide and extremely useful in conservation, development and management of medicinal and bulbous plants.
