Fruit fly is one of the serious pests of cucumber making the fruit unfit for consumption and marketing. So, there is a dire need to develop varieties/hybrids resistant to fruit fly. For this, it is important to know the mode of inheritance of resistance to fruit fly. A diverse germplasm of 120 cucumber lines was s~reened for fruit fly resistance at Solan (Himachal Pradesh). EC 173934 and LC-11 genotypes were observed resistant to fruit fly infestation under field and laboratory conditions. Gyn1 and K-90 were used as susceptible lines. Inheritance of resistance to fruit fly was worked out by observing the F1s, F2s and back cross generations. Resistance to fruit fly infestation was under the control of single dominant gene. The resistance from resistant variety may be incorporated through backcross method in already existing high yielding susceptible varieties.
