Abstract

An experiment was conducted during the year 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 at the experimental farm of Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Rehmankhera, Lucknow. The experiment was performed to determine the optimum planting time and ideal cultivars of banana (Musa sp.) for commercial cultivation under Lucknow conditions. The experiment was laid out in a Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications having ten planting months (February to November) with four cultivars of banana (Dwarf Cavendish, Grand Naine, Robusta and Kullan). On the basis of the statistical data, it is concluded that May, June and July months planting with cultivars Grand Naine and Dwarf Cavendish, respectively can be commercially cultivated under Subtropical conditions of Lucknow.
