The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the cultivation of suitable intercrops in young guava (cv. L-49) orchard grown under new alluvial condition of West Bengal. The experiment was conducted at farmers fields near Horticultural Research Station, Mondouri of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, under Nadia district of West Bengal during 2005–2008. The results showed that intercropping with chilli increased fruit yield of guava as compared the other intercrops (cabbage, brinjal, elephant-foot yam, turmeric and coriander, as leafy vegetable) as well as better over monocropping. Intercropping in general, improved fruit size, fruit weight and pulp content of fruits of guava, but among different intercrops, effect of chilli as intercrop was found better followed by cabbage and brinjal.
