Abstract

Dormancy is a crucial aspect of quality of seed potato. It is not only influences the behavior of tuber seed but also, importantly, the behavior of the crop grown from it. Dormancy in potato is mainly influenced by storage conditions particularly by temperature but their response is strongly modified by genotype. Because of the effects of storage conditions, dormancy in the potato can be effectively manipulated. It has also been found that pre and post harvesting chemical treatments are handful in manipulating the tuber dormancy in potato for better utilization.
