Abstract

Agriculture is a traditional occupation of rural society and also the fundamental livelihood of Indians. Present study was under taken at Amroha district of Western D.P. in year 2014. Rural youths were supposed to be the primary concern in agriculture sector for entrepreneurship development. Present study highlights the overall outlook, role, knowledge and perception of rural youth about the agriculture as an enterprise. Thus it can be concluded that the entrepreneurial behaviour of a sample of rural youth appeared to be low as a whole, with low level of achievement motivation, risk taking ability, level of leadership ability, knowledge, extend of adoption and high level of externality. The marital status was also inducted as a variable, majority (88%) of rural youth respondents were married and living in joint families. Thus it appears that the rural youth get adequate familial support from their wives and other family members in managing their rural enterprises.
