Abstract

The present investigation entitled, "Flower and corm production in gladiolus (Gladiolus hybridus Hort.) as influenced by different sources of nutrients at Horticultural Research Centre (HRC) of SVPUAT, Meerut during the year 2013–14. The experiment laid out in Randomized Block Design (RED) with three replications. The experiment consisted often treatments viz. T1: control (with out NPK), T2: 100% RDF (180:80:80 kg/ha NPK), T3: 75% RDF + 25% VC, T4: 75% RDF+ 25% VC + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0 g/plant PSB, T5: 75% RDF + 25% Leaf Mould, T6: 75% RDF + 25% Leaf Mould + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum. + 2.0 g/plant PSB, T7: 75% RDF + 25% Neem Cake, T8: 75% RDF + 25% Neem Cake + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0/plant PSB, T9: 50% RDF + 50% VC, TID: 50% RDF + 50% VC + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0 g/plant PSB, Til: 50% RDF + 50% Neem Cake + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0 g/plant PSB, Til:50% RDF + 50% Leaf Mould + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum.+ 2.0 g/plant PSB. Results revealed that using 50% RDF + 50% VC + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0 g/plant PSB, produced maximum number of florets, number of spikes per corm, diameter of flower, number of cormlets per plant while maximum length of spike and rachis was produced by T10 treatment. However maximum diameter of spike noted with treatment Til. Plant receiving 75% RDF+ 25% VC + 2.0 g/plant Azospirillum + 2.0 g/plant PSB, significantly produced maximum number of spikes/corm, diameter of flower and number of bulblets/plant while treatment T10 and T8 significantly gave maximum number of corms/plant and diameter of bulb respectively. Treatment T9 when plants were treated with 50% RDF + 50% VC, significantly found superior in terms of weight of bulbs and yield of bulbs/plant over control.
