The experiment was conducted during the spring season in 2008 with the commercial cv. “First Red ’and Grand Gala ”the details of treatments are followed. The experiment was laid out in complete randomized block design (CRD). All treatments were randomly allocated laboratory and replicated three times. Chemical used two chemicals each at two different concentrations were tried as holding solution which is as follows. 8-HQC. It is effective bactericide, germicides and improves water balance. 8-HQC-150 ppm and 100 ppm. AgNO3–150 ppm and 100 ppm and Control (distilled water). Treatments with AgNO3 (100 ppm) in cv. First Red shows decline in fresh weight form 3rd day to the day of senescence. The control also showed increase in flower diameter on 3rd day in vase. Maximum diameter (8.55 cm) was recorded in cv. First Red at l00 ppm 8-HQC followed by (8.18 cm) at l00 ppm AgNO3. However, the minimum increase in flower diameter on 3rd day in vase was recorded (8.21 cm) at 150 ppm 8-HQC and (6.93 cm) at 150 ppm AgNO3. Maximum increase in flower diameter (6.93cm) was recorded at 150 ppm AgNO3 followed by (6.82cm) at 150 ppm 8-HQC.
