Abstract

Fibroadenomas are essentially benign tumours, and malignancy in a fibroadenoma is almost unheard of. Carcinoma diagnosed in a pre-existing fibroadenoma comprises <0.5% of all breast cancers. Malignant transformation is rarely diagnosed pre-operatively. Generally, it is a histological surprise after surgical excision. Here, we present a 39-year-old lady with malignant transformation in a long-standing fibroadenoma.
