Abstract

Aim: Aim of the study is to assess the incidence of eye disorders in petroleum industry workers of Gwalior, Central India. All the technical and nontechnical workers were interviewed and comprehensive eye examination was performed with ophthalmic instruments. Results: The total participants include 140 male (86%) and 10 female (14%). No significant association was seen between the type of refractive errors and the type of workers (X2=1.593, p=0.053). Similarly, no significant association was observed between type of ocular disorders and workers (X2=13.86, p=0.53). Conclusion: The incidence of refractive error is one of the major areas of concern among the petroleum industry workers. Periodic vision testing could help to avoid ocular hazards related to industrial work.
