Influence of nutritional treatments on flowering of tuberose, Polianthes tuberosa L
Abstract
Sixteen fertilizer treatments were accessed in a factorial randomized block design on growth and flowering of tuberose, Polianthes tuberosa L cv Double at the experimental farm of the Department of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, HP during the year 2010–11. Among the different treatments tried 200 kg N/ha + 100 kg P2O5/ha recorded maximum spike length (80.88 cm), number of florets per spike (30.48), rachis length (29.95 cm), fresh weight of spike (70.89 g), fresh weight of 100 florets (179.71 g), floret diameter (3.51 cm) and number of flowering stems per plant (2.23). The minimum time taken for spike emergence (98.81 days) and basal florets opening (119.10 days) was also recorded in the same treatment.
