Eco-friendly weed management practices on growth and yield parameters and nutrient uptake of organic rice production

Afield experiment was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during Rabi 201213 (October-February) to identify the ideal weed management technique in organic rice production. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments comprised different weed management practices. The results revealed that application of rice bran @ 2 tons/ha at 3 days after transplanting (DAT) followed by hand weeding at 35 DAT kept the weed density and dry weight below the economic threshold level. Rice bran application significantly increased both spikelet number per panicle and also registered higher grain yield of rice under organically grown situation.
