Abstract

Youth aspiration may be defined as the hope of youth under different environments and circumstances in changing social context. Youth aspiration is dynamic. It is assumed that youth are the vanguard of their family and the future custodians of their family farm and farming. Present study was conducted in purposively selected Saruka village of Barahat block, district Banka of Bihar state and the data were collected from 100 rural youth from January to June 2015. From the study it was noted that maximum number of youth belonged to age group of 30–35 years with low individual and family education level, low social participation and medium risk orientation. However their achievement motivation was medium to high. They had enough contribution in decision making for hiring labour for farming activities and managing government benefits. They wanted that their earning from family farming should be sufficient enough so that the possibility of their migration from family farming to nonagricultural sector could be stopped.
