This study was done during 2002–2003. The six treatments were 2% and 4% aqueous and alcoholic extracts of A. baccifera, 8% ethanolic solutions and untreated control. The extracts of A. baccifera prepared by using its dried and crushed plants on w/v basis. The treatments were applied on 20 healthy seeds placed in petridishes, lined with double layer of filter papers. Both aqueous and alcoholic extracts of A. baccifera significantly reduced the growth and biochemical activities of test species. Among the treatments, 4% alcoholic extract proved most effective than other treatments and untreated control. Pea was found to be most susceptible crop, whereas, wheat was least susceptible.
