Abstract

The interspecies allelopathy of Caragana microphylla and Glycoyrrhiza uralensis were studied. Water extract of C. microphylla root, stem and leaf were used to irrigate seed, young seeding and transplants. The result also showed the interspecies allelopathy was not conspicuous. The extract of C. microphylla root, stem and leaf (1–50 mg/ml) reduced the germination of G. uralensis seed. The inhibitory action of high concentration water extract of C. microphylla stem and leaf (50 mg/ml) was stronger than root extract (50 mg/ml). The water extract of C. microphylla root and stem did not effect the seedings growth of G. uralensis transplants. The water extract of G. uralensis root, stem and leaf (1–50 mg/ml) improved the seed germination of C. microphylla and the seedlings growth.
