Photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) grows with photo-heterotrophically light and anaerobic conditions and metabolizes various organic compounds aselectron donors and carbon souces. It has been used as an active microbial feed additive and has been receiving increasingly attention. Nevertheless the chief problem for PSB in practial application is how to obtain PSB culture solution with high concentration in shorter time and at lower cost. Therefore, the study about mass culture of PSB becomes important for application of PSB widely. In this paper, the growth promotion of triacontanol (TA) gibberellin (GA3) and α-naphthylacetic acid (α-NAA) on PSB was studied The results showed that the three plant growth hormones accelerated the growth of PSB. Of the three, gibberellin exhibited best promoting effect at concentration of 0.5 mg/L. Optimum concentrations of tricontanol and α-naphthylacetic acid were both 1.0 mg/L Thus it was feasible and practial to promote the growth of PSB by adding some plant growth hormones.
