Green manures for the control of weeds of lettuce and cabbage crops.
Abstract
The allelopathic effects of black velvet bean (Stizolobium aterrima [Mucuna aterrima D, jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis) and sunn hemp on the development of the weeds of lettuce (cv. Raider) and cabbage (cv. Kenzan) were studied in Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil, from December 2001 to August 2002. Black velvet and jack bean controlled the sedges. The cultivation of cabbage reduced sedge infestation.
