Abstract

Semiochemicals from grasshoppers and locusts, and their functions are reviewed. The pheromones include gregarization pheromone, maturation pheromone, male-produced oviposition pheromone, mass oviposition pheromone, sex pheromone and aggregation pheromone. Defensive allelochemicals include chemicals emitted from eggs, faeces, regurgitants, glandular defensive secretions and other toxic substances.
