Abstract

This is an overview of the protective secondary metabolites of plants and their agricultural use. The use of plant-originated allelochemicals such as sesquiterpene is discussed as alternative sources of herbicides and pesticides. The following topics are also discussed: (I) natural products that are used as agrochemicals; (2) allelochemicals in plants and their use; (3) pest-tolerant substances in plants; (4) disease-tolerant substances (antibacterial activities) in plants.
