Abstract

The allelopathic studies in grassland and pasture plants have been reviewed in this review. Recent researches have contributed to better understanding of structural changes in plant communities in grasslands. Special attention has been paid to the seasoning phenology of allelopathic substances accumulation in plants and soils. The allelopathic activity of plant spp., their varieties/genotypes and response of their seedlings to chemical interactions of old sod have been presented. The chemical interference between plants affects the compatibility and durability in plant communities. Knowledge of plant's allelopathic interactions on grasslands helps to control their floristic composition, productivity and biodiversity.
