The leaf leachates of Cassia uniflora weed stimulated the seed germination of Brassica juncea and Raphanus sativus at low concentrations (2.5–5%), but higher concentrations (15–20%) were most inhibitory to both crops. The higher concentrations were inhibitory to both seed germination and seedling growth. The phytochemical and TLC analyses showed that Cassia leaves were rich in phenolics and various neutral and nonpolar compounds and allelochemicals (tannins, glycosides, proteins and carbohydrates).
