To study influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi on camptothecin content, three AM fungi [Glomus diaphanum Acaulospora mellea and Sclerocystis sinuosa] were selected to infect the C. acuminata seedlings under 3 levels of phosphorus (13, 53 and 113 mg/kg). The results showed remarkable interactions between the AM fungi and P supply on camptothecin contents in roots, leaves and the whole plant of C. acuminata seedlings. All P levels increased the colonization of C. acuminata seedlings with AM fungi and camptothecin contents in roots, leaves and the whole plant. The influence of AM fungi and P supply on the distribution of camptothecin in plant organs was also investigated. The increase in camptothecin content in roots associated to the mycorrhizal symbiosis was higher at low P supply.
