In lab bioassays and field experiments, plant extracts from 74 species (vegetables, flowers, trees, filed crops and weeds) were screened for fungitoxicity against Verticillium dahliae. The leaf extracts of Vitis amurensis Rupr. and Allium fistulosum L. were most inhibitory (68.44%, 61.31%, respectively) against the mycelium growth of Verticillium dahliae and their prevention ratios of 75.76%, 71.72% were similar to commercial fungicides. Besides, branch and leaf extracts (Eugenia caryophyllata Thunb and Salix babylonica L.), leaf extracts Mentha haplocalyx Briq., Capsicum frutescens L., Lycopersicom escutentum Mill., Cucurbita moschata Duch., Allium tuberosum Rott. ex Spr., Juglans regia L., Ginkgo biloba L., Cirsium japonicum DC., Agastache rugasa Kuntze., Sonchus brachyotus DC. and Tagetes erecta L.), root extract of Cleome Spinosa L., fruit extract of Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. and pericarp extract of Citrus reticulata Banco also exhibited strong fungitoxicity, hence, these may be developed as botanical fungicides against other pathogens.
