Abstract

Allelopathy plays a prominent role in ecology and evolution of plant communities. Recent progresses show that there is a complex, interacting network of signaling pathways leading to the induction of numerous genes in plant allelopathy stress. The advent of the DNA microarray technology opens up a new avenue for studies of the composition, dynamics and regulation of the transcriptome in plants and studies on plant allelopathy should benefit from this new approach. Microarray will provide a powerful tool for the discovery of allelopathy-related genes and should help in elucidating their function on a genomic scale. In this paper, the updated advances and strategies on applications of microarray technology to allelopathy researches are discussed.
