Allelopathic effects of Ougeinia oojeinensis Roxb. (Fabaceae) on the germination and growth of wheat, barley and mustard

Abstract

The bioassay study reveals no significant reduction in the germination percentage of test crops. However, leaf and bark extracts were equally toxic to plumule and radicle growth of test crops. In pot culture, germination of Triticum aestivum and Hordeum vulgare was significantly inhibited by soil depth, however, no reduction was recorded in Brassica campestris. Soil depths reduced the shoot-root growth and dry matter yield of all the test crops, particularly in rhizosphere soil.
