Different types of ready made foods were analyzed for detecting the presence of metanil yellow a non-permitted color. A total of 140 samples of yellow colored sweets, confectioneries, juices and snax etc were collected at random from different small stalls of Noida and Ghaziabad regions. Of the total samples analyzed 47.85 per cent of the samples showed presence of metanil yellow in them. The frequencies of the use of metanil yellow were higher in case of road side local ice candies.
