India is essentially an agricultural country, as about seventy percent of the population lives in villages. Majority of the rural work force is mainly agriculture dependent, in which the share of agricultural labourers is quite high. Agricultural labourers contribute enormously towards the rural economy and also to the national economy. Historically, they were the working class and the chief reason for the development of the society and economy. This paper examines the changing contours of status of the agricultural labourers and also their problems in India and India states. It reveals that majority rural labour force still in meager wage conditions and vulnerability a predominant in the lives of rural force. Hence it needs revisionist approach in revising the economy of labour force.
