Nation states of the world have been built on the basis of common race, religion, language, history, political aspiration, and etc. But all the above factors are not compulsory to build a Nation.Though the Nation is having different race, religion, language, history, and political aspiration, can also survive for a long time and maintain its National Integration, for example India. India is a land of different religion, caste, culture, and different geographical area, and it is one of the special feature also, with all these factors it has protected the National unity and integrity. In India National integration is a multi-dimensional concept.it has social, political and economic dimensions. National integration means “awareness of a common identifyamongst the citizen of that country. It creates awareness with interreligious, inter-linguistic and inter-cultural differences”. But it is not an easy task to achieve the integration, it can be achieved through proper‘ education’. Education has a major role to play in inculcating the values of solidarity, integrity, the importance of knowledge about literature, and culture through moral science, spiritual, seculareducation andvalue education. Constitution of India, has constituted various commissions and committees for this, these committees have highlighted the importance of National integration. We must have heard a patriotic song in the TV channel ‘Mile sur merathmara’to promotes National integration. After independence National integration is one of core issue for our political leaders, After the re- organization of the states on the basis of languages this concept became further important. The states like Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh etc.are facingthe challenges. The father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Prime minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi have lost their life for the sake of India‘s National Integration. But still India is facing internal and external threat for its integration. Constitution of India only cannot protect national integration it is the duty of every Indian to protect integration, hence there is a need of analyzing and understanding the concept of National integration of India.
