After the implementation of the open market Liberalization policies 25 years back Indian economy has seen drastic changes and has limited the intervention of the states through the LPG policies it has at the same time brought about apparent developmental issues to the forefront. It has also raised certain serious concerns about the process of development in the country. One school of thought, believe that India has emerged as a fast growing economy among the Asian countries and is giving a stiff competition to China and Japan. It also estimated that by 2020 India would become a strong, powerful economy in the world. The Government has also announced that by 2032 India would be a $10 trillion dollar GDP (gross domestic product) economy. However the concerns raised by another school of thought is whether India is moving in the right direction creating ample job opportunities, education for all and creating better standards of living for all citizens. Despite the technological advances why is it that the fruits of growth do not reach the millions while only a few have access to it. The superficiality of such development is again a big threat to the actual measures that are required to be taken. This paper analyzes the developmental process, post liberalization era and the consequences of these policies within the country.
