National solidarity through community empowerment - New strategies

This paper examines the key significance of identifying & understanding the role of community towards achieving National Solidarity & integrity. India is a land of villages and Indian rural scene is slowly being influenced by impact of globalization trends. Rural youth are attracted to urban life styles and the concepts of easy life and money making has become a headache as rural migration to urban centers is increasingly popular among rural youth. Rural India is a witnessing the influence of liberal economic policies and concepts of National Integrity and solidarity have taken a back seat. National issues are neglected and social divisiveness is being Thus there is a fervent rise in caste related violence, un-touchability practices, gender discrimination, grand disregard of the elderly, girl child ill-treatment, human rights violation and societal prejudice. Rural India needs renewed awareness about Indian historical evolution, perspectives of social cohesion, paths of National solidarity and harmony. The rural India scene needs to be supported with awareness about fraternity and brotherhood through multi stakeholder interventions. A community needs to stand up to support the strategies towards prevention of disaster risk management, risk reduction, extending assistance during National calamities etc. All stake holders need to involve in creating awareness this would support the national goals of development and progression.
