Abstract

Social media has become dominant tool that connects millions of people globally from the comfort of our homes. As well as social media is very powerful tool in farming because it has the ability to connect with agribusiness people and farmers from around the world. The introduction of social media has opened up a platform that agricultural extension officer's, farmers, agricultural institutions and non-governmental institutions utilize to disseminate and exchange agricultural information. Social media in agriculture is an innovative project that will explore the use of social media (You tube, Face book, Twitter, etc.) as an extension tool. The objective of the study is to discuss the use of social media as a source of agricultural information with reference to farmers in Karnataka. The study based on secondary data, date was collected from various books, articles and reputed journals. Now a day farmers have various source of agricultural information for example the internet, social media and extension services. Social media plays a significant role in enhancing agricultural innovations and agricultural extension.
