Abstract

Community radio is a type of radio service that caters to the interests of a certain area, broadcasting content that is popular to a local audience but which may often be overlooked by commercial or mass-media broadcasters. The researcher has reviewed the literature to become familiar with existing published works on community radio and it's every aspect. These efforts allowed the researcher to identify gaps in the literature and note possible research methods for his own studies. This literature review will identify previous research that has been done on community radio and its various developmental aspects in terms of Social Change, Education and Entertainment with reference to Kongu community radio in Tamil Nadu. Prominent studies relating to various aspects of community radio at international, national and regional levels are disused.
