Globally 73 million youth are searching for job. Millions are vacancies are waiting to be filled but companies are finding it hard to find suitable candidates for filling these vacancies. An OECD report reveals that across the globe nearly 40 million people are neither in education nor in employment. Even though graduates are coming out in huge numbers, employers still feel the scarcity of skilled workers. These are the days of technology driven economies, there is a huge pressure on youth to shape the future of the nation on par with global standards. Employers are demanding skilled graduates but universities have failed to churn out such graduates. Investments pattern in higher education have to be critically enhanced towards inclusive growth. There is a dire need for attitudinal change from policy makers and a decision to make employment oriented syllabi lies in the hands of all stake holders. But even before this, the requirements of the economy have to be identified clearly and needs to be answered though higher education content.
