Abstract

This article aimed to understand the importance of code of ethics for professional social workers and specificity of human rights as a part of code of ethics. While there are several challenges and differences in social work perspectives in code of ethics in India, it is now well acknowledged by National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) there is a declaration about human rights and human dignity that is included under the main heading of “ethical principles”, and the content includes four upholding rules that serve as guidelines to defend each person's physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual integrity and well-being that will facilitate the transformation of social work education in India into an effective discipline with a human rights perspective.
