Youth tourism -boon or bane ? -reflections on the actualities of youth travel preferences & government initiatives

This paper explores the actualities behind emerging concepts of youth tourism. Youth tourism is a new and fast growing concept in the tourism sector. Youth tourism means young travellers preferentially show interest travelling to far off destination in search of new culture. Youth tours are independently organized with flexible travel schedule and for longer duration. Youth are keen to experience the local life style and meet other like minded people. Youth tourism heavily promotes opportunities to socialize with fellow travellers. The majority of the youth travel with limited budget sourcing cheap accommodation enabling longer duration journey and spending their money on a wide range of activities such as natural world, environment, scenery, country side culture, exploration etc. Venturing into an exciting new surrounding is a welcome sign from the point of youth attitude as it keeps them energetic and determined. Further it is supportive to Indian economy. The boost it is generating towards accompanying sectors of development. There have been travelling into places hither to quiet, away from public eye and making them known to the world. Lack of safety measures, poor signal quality of the broad band service, poor infrastructural facilities are drawing youth to danger.
