Dr. B. R. ambedkar's view on gender equality and women emancipation

“We shall see better days soon and our progress will be greatly accelerated if male education is persuaded side by side with female education…” are the words of young Ambedkar, during his studies at New York which came out while writing a letter to his father.s friend. Dr. Ambedkar. the determined fighter and a deep scholar has made significant efforts to lead the society on the path of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. He was the first Indian to break down the barriers in the way of progress of women in India. He laid down the strong foundation by codifying the common Civil Code for Hindus and other sections of the Indian society. The present paper attempts to highlight Dr. Ambedkar's view on gender equality and women emancipation in India and its relevancy in present scenario.
