In the present study an attempt is made to assess the Influence Gender on Self-esteem and academic achievement among adolescents studying in class 9 in Mysore city. A total of 100 adolescent students studying in Mysore city were randomly selected. They were administered Coopersmith's Inventory (1987.) which measured of self-esteem an individual in five areas-general Self-esteem, social Self-esteem, home parents Self-esteem, lie Self-esteem and school academic scale. Academic achievement scores were collected from the respective schools. One-way ANOVA was employed to find out the significance of difference between students with different levels of Self-esteem in various areas and their academic achievement scores. Results revealed that only home Self-esteem had significant influence over academic achievement. General Self-esteem, social Self-esteem, lie Self-esteem scale and school academic Self-esteem, did not have significant influence over academic achievement of the sample studied.
