Abstract

Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is based on the principle that unhealthy negative emotions and behaviors are the result of cognitive processes rather than life events. REBT is a practical, action-oriented approach to coping with problems and enhancing personal growth. Studies have shown that unhealthy negative emotions and behaviors largely result from irrational beliefs people hold about the way that they, others, or the world should be. By learning to be less demanding about the things that cannot be changed, REBT helps free individuals to work on what can be changed.
