Performance Assessment as Alternative Assessment in Educational Evaluation

This article begins by an introduction about the importance of assessment in teaching and learning process. Then it emphasizes on using alternative assessments such as performance assessment in education in order to increase the students’ thinking skills. It then provides a short statement about the importance of performance assessment and definition of performance assessment. Next it lists and compares traditional assessment with performance assessment in a table. Then a preliminary overview of performance assessments’ advantages and types of performance assessment including products, performances, performances and products are explained. At the end types of scoring in performance assessment are stated.
