A Study on Poverty and Disability (Case Study from Iran)

Abstract

Disability and poverty have complex and interdependent relationship. Disability is both th causes and consequence of poverty. Poverty is not simply the consequence of a lack of resources. Some people are unable to access existing resources because of who they are what they believe or where they live. Such discrimination is a form of exclusion and a cause of poverty’. (DFID 2000e). In fact, disability limits access to education and employment, and leads to economic and social exclusion. Poverty and development in which an attempt was made, for the first time, to focus on disability as a significant development issue linked to poverty. This paper argue relationship between poverty and disability and reverse in some countries especially in Iran. Therefore, we conclude that poverty evasion is a key solution in preventing disability directly and indirectly especially in countries with low resources. Documentary method will be use for this paper.
