The Impact of ICT on Accounting and Management Student Performance in Higher Education in 2007–2008

Abstract

During the last two decades, higher education institutions have invested heavily in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). ICT has had a major impact in the university context, in organization and in teaching and learning methods. One puzzling question is the effective impact of these technologies on student achievement and on the returns of education. Many academic researches have tried to answer this question at the theoretical and empirical level. Regarding to the importance of subject, the present paper has studied the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on student's performance in higher education. This research is a causality-comparative study carried out on 240 accounting and management students in Behshahr and Sari Payam Noor University. Experimental groups (120 Behshahr Payam Noor accounting and management students) were understudied by utilizing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), while traditional way of training was used for control group. Tools of data gathering were included: the list of information and communication technologies use amount, “Elkz's strategies of stimulation for learning questionnaire (1998). The criteria for students performance was final score mean. Regarding to the use of re-test, the reliability of understudied test was (83%). T-student inferable statistic was used for testing hypothesis. Research findings showed the use of ICT in education has effected on students’ motive and performance and it is a powerful tool for developing abilities and demonstrating human intelligence and is an appropriate mechanism for creating educational motive.
