Influence of Education and Occupation on Family Planning and Access to Welfare Among Iranian Women

Abstract

The present study reports influence of educational level and occupation on family planning and access to welfare among Iranian women. A total of 880 Iranian women randomly selected from Esfahan city for the present study. They were administered a set of questionnaire on family planning and access to welfare. The data was collected in one session by contacting individually each respondent in Esfahan city. The data were subjected to chi-square test and contingency table analysis and following results were observed. Results revealed that 43% of the Iranian women were still have negative attitude towards family planning. 12.0% of them undergone vasectomy, 10.2% tubectomy, 5.9% indicated IUD, 22.6% insist on condom, and 6.3% on other types of family planning methods. As the educational level increased involvement in family planning as also increased linearly and significantly As far as the access to welfare is considered, again educational level had a significant influence Those who were on salaried employment, temporary govt job, temporary private sector job, and others used 100% family planning methods, where as business/industrialists, and petty trade shop keepers did not use any family planning methods. Suggestions and implications of the study have been delineated in the discussion.
