The role of social capital in rural development

Abstract

The mean of development has been changed by the end of modernity and beginning postmodern age and history of "development" mean has been made new elements for this long chain. One of these meanings that are formed in present age is "Social Capital". Along with considering the mean of Social Capital, the planning methods have been also formed by approaching voluntarism and stable development and emphasizing importance of indexes such as measurement of Social Capital, stability, flexibility and to be participation in which every region has freedom of thought and action to administrate economical politics by taking relative advantage. One of development views that have been formed in the frame of mentioned aspects is "General Rural Development". therefore, three indexes that Putnam considers them include confidence, participation and communications has been measured and used in relation to measurement of Social Capital. The results and 4.78% points ranged 106 to 125 suggest that rate of Social Capital is average in rural areas of Poshte Ab of Zabol. Additionally, the highest variance among dimensions of Social Capital has been also related to communication dimension and it suggests high communication and social unions in the studied villages. Generally, it van be concluded that there is a significant relation between Social Capital and Rural Development and every parameters can be owned effective role. If average Social Capital of studied area is supported and optimized, it can be played important role to rural development of Poshte Ab of Zabol.
