Abstract

In India, IT Profession is becoming one of the most important professions today. IT professionals live a high profile life and glamorous lifestyle as lot of finance is associated with this industry. Different types of HR practices are carried in the Software Companies. It was felt necessary that a documentation of their practices would help a new industry in the IT sector, which is looking for benchmarking their practices. The average age of the IT professional is between 23 to 27 years. This younger generation constantly looks for better opportunities, both financial as well as for self development. As a result, frequent job switching has become the part of the profession. In today's job market, Sound HR strategies are very important to a Company's future success particularly in identifying, training, developing and retaining top employees. Job requirements are changing for all industries. Performance management has become a major aspect in developing productive workers and managers. The HR department of various IT companies now has a new role to come out with new and innovative perks like fringe benefits to keep employees in good humor.
