Abstract

Quality of life is emerging as a Central concept within many disciplines, such as those comprising the social sciences, economies, & medicine. Its attractions in part, are that it offers an alternative to some traditional disciplinary views about how to measure success. Present study is intended to investigate the spatial pattern of Quality of life of the households in Mysore District. Secondary sources of information have been widely used to derive the scores of the weightage index of QOL. The Social indicators such as housing, water supply, sanitation and electricity are used to assess the quality of life in the region. Housing in the district is constrained by several factors. The district has a considerable population without proper housing and many are even do not have their own houses to live in urban areas compared to rural area. Drinking water and Sanitation facilities are scarce in rural and urban habitations and the drinking water facilities needs to be improved. Even, in case of electric supply disparities are common both in urban and rural areas. Due to the shortage of power supply, power cut is common in th e District. The numerical value for assessing QOL of life is derived from the housing, drinking water facility, sanitation and electricity, all equally weighted. It is one of the measures used to assess quality of life.
